Comments about the SOS Kinderdorf from 4b:
Yesterday
we went to the SOS Kinderdorf in Hinterbrühl. One of the mothers
in the Kinderdorf showed us all the houses and buildings and she
gave us a lot of information about it. Hermann Gmeiner was the
founder. He was a Voralberger and founded the first SOS Kinderdorf
in Innsbruck in 1957.
In the Kinderdorf there are 25 houses with 25 “families”. The kids
can see their real parents once a month.
I think it must be very hard if you don’t see your parents so
often, but I think the mothers in the Kinderdorf try their best to
make the kids happy.

I
think the visit to the SOS Kinderdorf was very interesting. I had
never seen one before. The children there must be very happy
because the people there are all very nice and friendly and the
children can do many things. I think it is a very good idea to
give children a new home when they need it.

I am really proud that an Austrian had the idea to build such a
“village” to give children another chance for their life. When I
am older I want to help them if I can. And I would like to have
such a job.
Magdalena Rebernik.
I would also like to live there if I didn’t have a family because
they really work together and help each other like a big family. I
think that the children there are very happy to have Kinderdorf
mothers.

The way to the SOS Kinderdorf was long, but when we arrived, it
was amazing! It was like a little village with playgrounds,
different houses, therapy-centre and visiting houses where parents
can stay when they visit their children regularly.
Every
Kinderdorf mother has her own children so the children have the
same mother the whole they are there and get used to her.
I think this SOS Kinderdof action is so great because you give
these children a chance.
The children who come form shattered families get a home and a
mother who loves them all.
I think this is the best idea an Austrian ever had.
